Caring today is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that was established in 2001 to support disabled children and children with learning difficulties; and their parents and carers living in East Lancashire.

We support disabled children by offering respite sessions, where they can be involved in activities of social, recreational and education value.
We also support parents and carers of disabled children by providing advocacy support and through a carer’s support Group.

Caring today is a completely independent organisation – we are not part of or linked to any other statutory, private or voluntary organisation and a registered charity.

who we are

Disabled children with learning difficulties are equal members of society and should have the same rights, opportunities and choices as other children.
Parents and carers should have independent support to enable then to have a voice; gain support; access the appropriate services for themselves and their child; access information; and make informed choices and decisions etc.

Our aims are to provide support for disabled children, children with learning difficulties and the parents and carers of these children. We also try and enable these children to have access to, and take part in, activities of social, recreational and education value, whilst enabling them to mix with and develop relationships with their peers.

We achieve this by providing the following facilities…

  • Respite care for disabled children and children with learning difficulties.

  • A support network for parents and carers by means of a carers support group, which is led by the needs and choices of the parents.

  • Providing advocacy support to parents and carers of disabled children and children with learning difficulties.
